Delete Files Securely with Pow Tools File Shredder

Protected by Copyscape Web Copyright Checker
Windows have two types of deletion option. Selecting "Delete" from Context Menu or Pressing "Delete" button, moves a file to "Recycle Bin". Selecting "Delete" from Context Menu while holding "Shift" button or Pressing "Shift" & "Delete" at once deletes a file 'Permanently'. But how much 'Permanently' depends on many unknown parameters. On the safe side I can say there is always a chance to recover those files with the use of powerful softwares. So, if you want to ensure the deletion as permanent you need to use some special type of softwares to "Shred". Pow Tools File Shredder is one of that kind and its Free.
Features
  • Small Installer (2.27 Mb). No Digital Signature.
  • Clean and Fast installation.
  • Neat Interface. Easy to use and Navigate.
  • Can delete multiple files and folders in batch.
  • There are five types of Shredding Algorithm. default one is selected in blue.
  • You can either browse or just drag and drop to add file and folders to the deletion list. Deletion process is fast.

  • It can also shred entire disk. Shredding disk is a relatively slower process.

  • It can add to file/folder context menu. From there you can shred files, let the software remember to shred that file, open the software.

  • Consumes minimum energy.

  • No System requirements have been mentioned in the webpage but it ran well for me in Windows XP and Windows 7, both in 32 and 64 bit. According to Softonic it is compatible to Win98/98SE/Me/2000/XP/2003/Vista/7.
My Verdict
I liked the software. But, I want to make two suggestions.
  1. Digitally sign the installer.
  2. Auto Check for updates.
I have made a video demonstration of the software.

One very important thing I want to mention. There is no concrete mention about the software developer nowhere. The company information of the installer is Wipesoft while 'About' software screen tells it is copyrighted by Pow Tools and the website tells it is File Shredder 2007.

  1. The file from the computer can be deleted permanently beyond recovery with the help some third party software like "Remo File Shredder". The files which are erased by using this file shredder cannot be recovered by using any recovery software. So, it is better to use this software in order to erase files securely.

  4. Hello Dinesh,
    No
System requirements have been mentioned in the webpage but it ran well
for me in Windows XP and Windows 7, both in 32 and 64 bit. According to Softonic it is compatible to Win98/98SE/Me/2000/XP/2003/Vista/7. I don't have Windows 8 installed. But I am almost certain that it will work because mostly those softwares are supposed to  be non-compatible that installs drivers for its work. You can try yourself.
